TREND WATCH

This season is full of new and exciting trends, for example animal print, tangerine coloured clothes, and full on denim. It seems every design pops out at you, no matter how simple it is. My favourite trend of the season though, must be Rainbow Nation. Rather than choosing one staple colour, it's a great idea just to showcase the lot, you can really express yourself. Usually, I don't often follow whats "in" or not, as you shouldn't have to overspend on something that will really only be popular for a short period of time. Rainbow Nation though is easy find, as i'm sure everyone has a range of colours hiding somewhere behind the winter blacks and beiges of their wardrobe! It would also be very easy to shop for cheaply and on the highstreet. Here are a few the best eye popping looks i could find.

designer, hot or not?

do you ever just look at items of clothing, and imagine what it would be like to wear them? i do all the time. its alright buying vogue every month, walking past all the designers in sloane square, and watching the kensington women in their dress up, yet sometimes i wonder what it would feel like actually being able to afford all this. sure, you can buy it at discount, or fake ones in foreign markets, but thats just not the real thing, so somehow it's just not quite satisfactory. the sparse designer items i own are technically not mine (ssh), stolen from my mother, they nearly fit. so, if any or you are feeling a bit like me, then here are some beautiful highstreet sales, hopefully affordable!

London Fashion Week- Oxford Street

Yesterday was not such a day of great weather, but definitely of great use. My two friends and I wound up at Oxford Street, trying to gain some of the stylist atmosphere during this eventful week. In the massive Topshop down there, they were giving mini makeovers to shoppers, showcasing the new trends with Topshop makeup. I took up this chance, and my look copied that of one Lara Stone modelled recently, rather grungy, but not quite Goth. I loved it, and gained many handy tips.

 This makeover was filmed by girls for their blog, so check it out at www.make-lemonade.com. Also there, we met Grace Timothy, a freelance writer and journalist, who has contributed to companies such as Vogue, she was talking to my friend and I about how to join this interesting field. Apparently blogging helps a lot! I’m glad we met her, as I was so stuck on information around journalism, and she really has the perfect job. When casually walking down the street, we sighted upon a tourist shop, which to my pleasure sold pretty damn awesome earrings, great for my cartilage. I quickly bought one, only £6, and I can tell I will be wearing it 24/7.

this weeks been a tad hectic really. firstly ive been practising non stop for a concert i'm playing my double bass next week, aswell as tons of home work, and i really wanted to get a few lookbooks done. The one i posted a couple of days ago, "Born for this" really relates to how much i love fashion. Since i was quite young i've known i wanted to work in this field, and i guess my blog and lookbook is helping that, so yay :) the american flag shorts, from Topshop, are by far my favourite shorts. They're original, but not overly quirky (even though i often like that in clothes). They're now doing trousers with the same print on, which my friend is getting. We'll look like twins!

secondly was "We are broken". The leotard matches well with the shorts in my point of view. Unfortunatly my mother would say its too short to go out in though...

BEING INDIVIDUAL

When viewing the typical, reckless teenager, it is sometimes easily forgotten that we do face hardships, one of which being ourselves.  When my friend told me I was “so indie” I looked up the meaning, and unsurprisingly found the definition as “being individual”. But shouldn’t everyone be this? When wearing glasses is geeky, short skirts are slutty, and Abercrombie makes you an instant Sloane, I realised that us teenagers get a lot of grief, just for expressing, or being who we are, so maybe it is just best to follow the crowd. But no, I’d rather get teased than flash my (non-existent) cleavage around or simply walk out in leggings and ugg boots, as it’s just not who I am. So if you’re reading this, sporting the newest trend or wishing you could have the courage to jump out of that tracksuit and into a maxi, my advice to you, is just follow your instinct. Be who you really are, and individual.  

SNAKE VALLEY

I've fallen inlove. And this time it's with Topshop's new collection- Snake Valley. It specializes in festival type pieces, full of tassels, fringe, and funky tie dye patterns. The models all have dip-dyed hair, so inspiration, and look like complete free spirits! Every single piece is original- from snake skin shorts to crocheted tops, and I love how eccentric they can be. The jewellery in this collection is mainly turquoise, a hit colour this season. Also, the leather shorts i was wearing in my last post (knightsbridge) are from this collection, and i'm sure many of you will agree they are gorgeous. The prices are affordable, so it just proves you can look great, for less. knightsbridge- 10/1/11

Life always seems to involve tons of travelling doesnt it? today i found myself relatively excited though, and didn't seem to mind the rather endless bus journey into London. My friend, Maddy, and I, were originally going to visit Kensington, for a charity shop binge (can't get enough of them). that idea was a fail, an epic one, as we ended up in some unknown area, rather posh, and full of drycleaners, so speedily decided on moving to PlanB, Topshop in Knightsbridge. I'm sure you'll all admit that, maybe once or twice (in your teen years, ofcourse) to taking photos in the changing rooms, a quick reminder of those beautiful items you just cannot afford.
